Thank you so much to everyone who attended our June 2022 Advisory Council meeting in Franklin. We had a great turnout and we were excited to have members of Be The Change Youth Initiative, based in Chattanooga, in attendance to share their story and perform some original songs centered around mental health.
You can access documents referenced at this month's meeting, as well as past meeting minutes and more, on our website.

Northwest Regional Director Emily Oswald served as a team advisor at the annual Tennessee Teen Institute on UT Martin's campus. This year, 500 youth, 85 team advisors, and 65 staff joined in on the festivities. The events throughout the week of the institute demonstrate all forms of prevention, including mental health, suicide, bullying, substance misuse, and more.

During the week leading up to Memorial Day, TSPN participated in two stops on the AMVETS ONE national bus tour headed toward Washington, D.C. from California. The bus stopped in both Memphis and Nashville to spread Veteran suicide prevention awareness.
Memphis/Shelby County Regional Director Justin Johnson, U.S. Marines Iraq War Veteran, spoke during the press conference at the Memphis bus stop. Special thanks to the AMVETS ONE team for this unique opportunity!

Natchez Trace Bridge barrier under construction
This week, the National Park Service (NPS) started work on a chain-link fence on the Natchez Trace Double Arch Bridge in Williamson County, in advance of the placement of a permanent barrier. The project represents the end result of years of campaigning by several groups, including TSPN, to install a mechanism to prevent suicides on the bridge.
This WPLN segment outlines the work done by the survivors of suicide loss and attempts to stop suicides at the Natchez Trace Bridge.
The NPS is seeking public input on an environmental assessment (EA) to install a permanent safety barrier. The comment period is through June 17; click here to comment online.
Thank you to the tireless advocates and collaborators who made this barrier a reality!
