Help Repair and Revive a Legendary Mission House

Joel and Yvonne appeal for funds to restore mission house

When we fled gang violence and abandoned our Port au Prince home 5 years ago, we drove through gang territory, then North to a furnished house gifted to us by retired, medical missionaries. This home has become a safe haven from where we continue to reach Haitians, though countless other missions have closed because they do not have a safe haven!

Another gift from Dr. Clark is an additional missionary house and property adjoining this property but it needs work. The roof is rotted and caving in; the yard is severely eroded by tropical rains.

Estimates for roof, electric and plumbing are only $5000.00! This is without a ceiling and will be a Phase 1 of a complete restoration of a legendary mission house.

Phase 2 will be pressure clean, retile, paint, lights, ceiling, kitchen and bath.

Phase 3 will be retaining walls to stop erosion, fill to plant grass and landscaping.

This property will be used for visitors from the US and a retreat for local missionaries; it is a Great Commission investment.

Legendary beginnings

This old rambling home built a room at a time, once housed a missionary couple and five children. The Missionary Pastor founded a church in Cap Haitian and members named their children after him!

Their first child perished in Haiti, all the others were then born in the US. One MK, missionary kid, told me, "We would run down the mountain to swim in the ocean."

Dr. Clark purchased it to help a missionary retire and then gifted it to us.

A Refuge from the Storm

On Easter Sunday last year, gangs surrounded our Port au Prince home where we raised our 4 children. After phone calls from neighbors and a guardian on the property, Yvonne and I surrendered the home and contents to God. We put it on His altar.

As gangs drew close around 1:00AM Easter Sunday morning, American mercenaries contracted by Haitian Government launched 13 drones from the mountain above our beloved home. Gangs members retreated and have not again threatened our street.

This is a miracle as many lost their homes, missions and lives to gang theft and fire. Praise God for His faithfulness!
