New Adult Christian Education Offering
"Abraham: First of a Kind" led by Fr. David Knight
Sundays ~ 9:30 AM ~ Parish Hall
Join Fr. David for an indepth look at the story of Abraham and Sarah, a first of a kind people. We will examine Genesis 12-22 and see how unique the Father and Mother of our Faith are, how they struggled and overcame, building altars along the way. What can we learn from their journey – the highs, the lows, and the very human way they struggled to build the kind of faith that carried them to the 22nd chapter?
Adult Christian Education Offering
How to Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal People
Sundays ~ 9:15-10:15 AM ~ Room 31, 2nd floor of Education Building
Prayer of confession and reconciliation is usually part of the worship when Christians gather for worship. It can occur when one person offers a general prayer or, as in our tradition, is set apart and specifically identified as confession. What is the purpose and need for such prayers? Class participants in this session discuss insights from the book and importance for “Confession and Reconciliation.”

SAMUEL SUNDAY ~ September 13
At Christ Church, we experience, embrace, and extend God’s love. This fall, we are living into our mission to show everyone God loves them unconditionally. Over the next few weeks, you will hear more about ways to be involved with our many ministries, groups, and opportunities in and through Christ Church. On September 13, what we call “Samuel Sunday,” from the story of the calling of Samuel in 1 Samuel 3, we will gather as a community to express where we feel God is calling us to serve.

MONTCLAIR BLESSINGS
Many, many thanks again for all the generous contributions you have made to Montclair Elementary. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We have so much more to do!
VOLUNTEERS make a huge difference. We have some Christ Church heroes reading with children, serving as teachers’ helpers, mentoring and encouraging students, working in the library, and doing small tasks that free up teachers to teach. Truly, the burden is light; you choose your own work schedule during school hours. You can meet team members and ask questions August 16, 23, and 30 between services and after the 10:30 service.
ANNUAL SUPPLIES DRIVE Montclair asks for the most basic needs. Children come in all sizes at Montclair – some very small, some as large as adults. Montclair keeps a range of sizes available for emergencies. For a list of supplies needed, please click here. The Montclair bin will be available for your donations beginning August 15th and continuing through August 30th in the Foyer. We will deliver to Montclair just after Labor Day. Again, thank you for your support to our family at Montclair!!
FINANCIAL DONATIONS: If you would prefer to make a cash contribution, please label your check “Montclair”. As always, your gifts are deeply appreciated and carefully used.

AN INVITATION TO SUNDAY SILENCE
Now that the fall schedule for breakfast and Sunday School is underway, we invite you to consider the option of a little time for silence in your busy Sunday morning. Centering Prayer is offered from 9:30 to 10:15 AM in the Choir Library, just outside the Choir Room on the first floor of the Education Building. This method of silent, contemplative prayer gives us an opportunity to let go of our thoughts in order to rest in God’s presence. Newcomers to the prayer will be given a brief introduction to the method, followed by sitting with the group in 20 minutes of silence. No commitments, no pressure, just a chance to spend some quiet time with God! If you would like more information or have questions, please contact Joan White.

ALTAR FLOWER DEDICATIONS
Each week our worship service is enhanced with beautiful fresh flowers. After the Sunday services, the altar flower arrangements are reworked into smaller arrangements. These arrangements are delivered to members of our parish family that are unable to attend a Sunday service. The altar flowers are a memorial, a thanksgiving for an anniversary, a birthday, a new birth, or a thanksgiving for God's blessings. The donation is listed in the weekly bulletin. Forms to participate in this ministry are available here and on the information table in the Foyer.

CHURCH PRAYER SHAWLS
A few prayer shawls have been placed on a stand just inside the front doors of the church that may be used during services. If you are a bit chilly or just want something to hold, pick up a prayer shawl to use. It is the hope of the Prayer Shawl Ministry that these items, prayerfully made, will offer comfort and a sense of well-being to the borrowers and they will feel God’s love and peace.
