Thanks to the support of three local Kiwanis Clubs, children in all zip codes in Benton and Franklin Counties will again receive books through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Tri-Cities Industry Kiwanis, Kennewick Kiwanis, and Richland Kiwanis pooled their funds to support 1500 children in zip codes that lost service after funding for the program was eliminated from the State budget, causing our local costs to double. Children enrolled in the program will begin receiving books again next month!
Supporting the Imagination Library was an easy decision for Kiwanis, who work to make the world a better place for children. The Imagination Library strengthens children’s early literacy skills and family reading habits by mailing a book each month directly to the home.
“My daughter has been receiving books from the Imagination Library since she was a couple of months old. She is almost 3 years old now and I truly believe her interest in books and ability to sit through story time at this young age, is all thanks to the books we get through the Imagination Library. We have been able to build a diverse personal library that would have otherwise been impossible without Imagination Library. Now her little brother gets to benefit from all the books we already have as well. I know the Imagination Library program is helping my kids have a lifelong love for reading.” Benton County Parent
We also want to thank the Imagination Library of Washington, who partnered with the JTMF Foundation and the Roots & Wings Foundation, to help support the program at the state level. Their partnership made it possible for local Kiwanis funds to support 1500 children.
