Cocktails & Convos, Summer Edition

Monday, August 10, 5:30pm-7:00pm

Kathi Parker's Backyard

117 Hutchinson St., Big Rapids

(Near the Community Pool)

For our summer Cocktails & Convos, we are delighted to have three of our members who have either held elected office or are currently running for office (or in Wendy's case, both!) for a panel discussion on their experiences in politics and public policy advocacy.

Kathi Parker has graciously offered her beautiful backyard as a location. Please bring either light refreshments, a bottle of wine, or some other type of beverage to share. If you have a lawn chair you can toss in your car, that would be helpful as well should we have more attendees than Kathi has outdoor chairs.

In case the weather doesn't cooperate with our plans for an outdoor event, Sarah Lucas has booked the meeting room in the lower level of the Big Rapids Community Library as a rain location. If we have to take refuge there, we will have to make the meeting a "Mocktails & Convos" event since the library has a no alcohol policy.

Please invite friends and acquaintances, especially anyone you know who has expressed an interest in either running for office themselves or wondered how they can support their chosen candidates.

"We the People" Party Will Feature Venus Envy

Saturday, August 1

11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Mitchell Creek Park, Big Rapids

Venus Envy, the local all-women band our branch sponsored for a concert during this year's February Festival of the Arts, will be the featured entertainment during Indivisible of West Central Michigan's "We the People" party on Saturday, August 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell Creek Park.

There will be a food truck from Yum City in addition to the nearby restaurants, or bring a picnic lunch with you.

There's not a lot of seating in Mitchell Park, so bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy this family-friendly community event with live music by a fabulous band!
