Quarterly Newsletter - September 2023
New MPO Staff Member
Torey Sanders joined the Memphis MPO as a Transportation Planner in August. In 2020, he earned a bachelor's degree in Geography with concentration in Geospatial Science and Technology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After graduating, Torey served in the City of Memphis' Urban Fellows Program as an Intern GIS Analyst where he worked within the Department of Information Technology. After his internship in 2022, he accepted a position as a Lead GIS Technician at Evari GIS Consulting, Inc. During his employment, he directed streetlight surveys in Philadelphia, PA, Boston, MA, Hollywood, FL, and others. These GIS surveys would be used for the improvement of streetlight infrastructure as well as promote safe roadway travel by implementing new and improved LED light fixtures to tens of thousands of existing streetlights. The experience he gained from this inspired him to pursue a career in transportation planning. Torey's primary focus within the MPO will be over data management.
After over 2 years of development, the Memphis MPO's Transportation Policy Board (TPB) officially adopted the MOVING TOGETHER 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) at its August, 2023 meeting! Thank you to all of our partners who were instrumental in the development of the plan, and a special thank you to all of the residents that provided their input during the development of the plan!
2024 Public
Participation Plan
The Memphis MPO recently kicked-off the development of its 2024 Public Participation Plan (PPP)! The Memphis MPO's PPP guides the MPO's public outreach efforts by outlining public participation methods, strategies for public engagement and outreach, and State and Federal regulations regarding public participation. The MPO is currently collecting input from residents on their participation preferences, and there is still time left to provide your input! You can scan the QR code or click the link below to take the survey, which is available through October 2nd, 2023.
