FRIDAY FLASH

December 1, 2023

A Note from the Headmaster

Dear Archway Trivium Families,

I’ve been thinking about silver linings lately. When we have a high expectation and don’t quite reach it, we celebrate the good that came and call it a silver lining. Or, when something mostly unpleasant happens, but there is a redemptive element, we also call this a silver lining. In either case, we are talking about pessimism striving to become optimism because the main focus is on the unpleasant part. Here is the interesting thought…what could be more hopeful than pessimism striving to become optimism? To stand in the face of a glaring deficiency and still try to acknowledge the good, this is a beautiful part of human nature.

Bad stuff will happen in life. When it does, find the silver lining, but don’t stop there. Look deeply and gratefully at that lining until it becomes your main focus. What we call silver linings in the moment are the often times pivotal building blocks in a life well lived. In that regard, they may become, ultimately, more significant than the thing they are lining. Have a great weekend!

Heartily Devoted,

Clay Scott, Ed.D. | Headmaster

We Need YOU!

If you'd like to get more involved in PSO leadership and you've been waiting for a sign - POW! Or the right role to open up - KABAAM! Reach out to me, Kimberly Alvidrez or spread the word if something posted here catches your eye!

There are many ways to make a difference on campus and in our community, but there is something unique about each of these roles that make them especially important to our success as a PSO and community. I would be happy to have a conversation with you to see if any one of these superhero positions may be right for your time and talents.

  • PSO Treasurer - open board position from January 2024 through the end of the school year. Detail oriented individual with a passion for the school and our teachers is a must!
  • Dancing with Daughters Co-Lead - Our version of a daddy-daughter dance and SO MUCH FUN because mom's plan it! Takes place on February 10, 2024. Planning meetings beginning in January!
  • Hot Lunch Assistant - will work directly with Hot Lunch Coordinator Lauren Mims beginning in March to help program's successful transition to new lead for school year 2024-2025.
  • Uniform Exchange Lead - will manage and organize uniform collection and exchange in the spring as well as oversee a small committee including the Lost & Found and our back-stock inventory supplied to the school nurse (for families in need, and kiddos who need a change of clothes during the school day.)

Warmly,

Kimberly Alvidrez

Late Pick-up Policy

We have been doing very well with our on-campus student pick-up and drop-off routines as of late. Every year, it takes a few weeks for us to settle into a routine so that the pickup runs smoothly. Now that pick-up times are running efficiently, we ask parents to ensure they arrive on time to pick up their students.

We will begin enforcing our Late Pick-up Policy on Tuesday, September 5. Please make sure you are arriving within 30 minutes of the end of school to pick up your scholar in order to avoid being charged a late pick-up fee. Parents arriving after this time will be required to sign out their child from the MPR and may be assessed a $2 per minute, per student late fee. All late pick-up fees will be added to your Configio account and are due upon receipt. For more information, please see page 46 of our Family Handbook.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - You will be charged from 3:35pm

Wednesday - You will be charged from 1:55pm

Half days - You will be charged from 12:25pm (excludes Half Day Kinder)

Communication Updates

Latest News image.png

School Messenger Communication

Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.

Email Communications

If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.

You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
