Jubilee Ministry grant received

$$$ for Outreach

The Diocese of West Missouri has announced a grant to the Church of the Resurrection for $937.50 for our BackSnack outreach ministry.

The grant is given as part of the Jubilee Ministries program. Jubilee Ministries was created by the 1982 General Convention of the Episcopal Church resolution A082 to be “a ministry of joint discipleship in Christ with poor and oppressed people, wherever they are found, to meet basic human needs and to build a just society.”

Thank you to the many Resurrection parishioners who volunteer their time and energy to support our BackSnack ministry and serve the children who participate in this beneficial ministry.

Stewardship campaign kicks-off

Pledge Cards will be distributed tomorrow

This Sunday we kick-off our annual stewardship campaign with the theme Rooted in Abundance, which describes the graceful state of our church community, and how we share our gifts lovingly with each other.

Our giving tradition at Resurrection has always been focused on how we share all of our gifts – not just our financial gifts. A church needs new ideas, creative people to lead, individuals who know how to solve complex problems, and volunteers to keep our ministries focused. We usually talk about this in a three-fold way: time, talent, and treasure. If any one of these areas is missing from our community, we are diminished.

Each of us has a gift. For some it is cooking, while others have beautiful singing voices and still others an administrative gift. We give special thanks to those who offer hospitality, who serve at the altar, or usher during the service. Potlucks, community events, pastoral care, it all happens so wonderfully because you are each deeply connected to each other through your roots of faith and service. Whatever your ministries are, Resurrection couldn’t be who we are without you. Thank you for the ways you have shared your gifts with this parish.

Tomorrow you will be receiving a pledge card for this year’s campaign and an invitation to let us know what gifts you would like to share with us for next year’s ministry. We ask that you return your pledge by Sunday, November 19. We will then celebrate on Sunday December 10.

Thank you, again, for your generous commitment to the Church of the Resurrection.

Parking lot volunteers needed

Please help!

Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral opens their parking lot for events at the convention center, Music Hall, and other nearby venues. We are fortunate to have been approved to be an organization to provide volunteers to collect the parking fees and direct people to open parking spots. In the last two years, a small number of volunteers from Resurrection has raised nearly $20,000 that has been used for SO MANY projects including: new HVAC, removal of dead trees on our property, work in the choir loft, altar rail kneelers, and a church security system soon to be installed. We need and use these funds! This goes so well with stewardship of time, talent, and treasure.

It is easy and fun to work together, greet happy people, and no preparation or training is needed! You can sign up with a friend (not required to be a member of Resurrection!) Please contact Elaine Gilligan at (816) 547-9091 or e-mail evgilligan@comcast.net to be included on future invitations to sign up to volunteer.

Thanks also to our volunteers last weekend (Bill Carle, Pat Carle and Jayden Morris) who raised approximately $650!
