Join the Mission & Ministry, Museum of Art, Professor Porsia Tunzi, and the nonprofit Organization, Sunday to Sunday Productions for an immersive, day-long retreat that invites SMC students into a deeper engagement with faith in public life through art, contemplation, and creative practice. The creative practice will be zine-making where each student will create an eight-page mini magazine, engaging creativity as a spiritual practice as inspired by the work of artist Sister Corita Kent: cutting, assembling, writing, and intentionally imagining the intersection of faith and justice. This retreat experience is an opportunity for students to use their hands, tap into their creative side, unplug from technology and the academic grind, be in intentional community, and reflect and engage deeply upon the connection between art, crafting, creativity, community, and faith.

Based in the William Keith gallery, Camlin's residency hours are open to visitors, faculty, students, and community members, who will help construct and create a woven fiber work for the forthcoming Spring 2027 exhibition, Interwoven.
Grounded in socially engaged artistic practice, the residency explores weaving as both a material process and a framework for collective strength, bringing participants together through sustained acts of making and conversation. Camlin’s interdisciplinary work examines disparities within the healthcare system, highlighting the social, economic, and structural inequities that shape experiences of care. Residency hours will be held from October 11th through November 21st.
Open to individuals of all experience levels, the project offers an opportunity to engage directly with contemporary artistic research while contributing to a work that reflects the diverse perspectives and experiences of the broader community.

Flexible Volunteer Opportunities Now Open in Lamorinda
Looking for a way to give back locally without committing to weekly meetings?
A new project-based volunteer group in Lamorinda is organizing hands-on service opportunities that fit your schedule. Sponsored by Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary, the group is designed for people who want to make a difference in the community, without the structure of a traditional club.
Recent and upcoming projects include creek and park restoration at Las Trampas Creek and the adjoining park, community improvement efforts at local venues, and support for regional nonprofits like John Muir Land Trust.
Volunteers participate on a project-by-project basis, choosing activities that match their interests, availability, and energy. Whether you can help once or want to stay involved, there’s a place to contribute. This flexible approach is helping more residents get involved in meaningful local service on their own terms.
