As Local Main Street programs mature and rise in Missouri Main Street Connection's Accreditation Tier system, they are able to hire an Executive Director and other staff to assist the Board of Directors and Committees implement action items and take on new projects. The staff put in countless hours to ensure that the organization's goals are prioritized including preserving historic buildings, programming to celebrate their rich and sometimes complex history, and supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners. Though there is a lot of work to be done in their jobs, Executive Directors and their staff also have fun when they can. They have cherished memories they have made together and with their community at events or on projects.
Local program staff work with and are supported by their partnership with Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) which hosts trainings, connections, and grants when available. Be a partner with MMSC through Heritage Circle to support MMSC in providing educational opportunities and resources made possible in part by generous donors.

Main Street Staff's Memories of Success
|
|
"Main Street is more than an organization doing things downtown. Main Street is a friend of downtown. We are champions, advocates, and protectors who work to support business owners, property owners, residents, and the community as a whole. Thankfully, our jobs at Main Street Chillicothe also include fun like drink breaks, concerts, and parades. When Pam and I have worked hard side by side on a project for weeks or months and finally see it completed, there is shared pride ... and sometimes hugs. 😂🤩🥰"
Tomie Walker, Executive Director of Main Street Chillicothe

"In February, Downtown Joplin Alliance held our fifth Paris Week at the Empire Market. This event was started in 2019 by Lori and I and we have attended since its inception. Our vendors and customers love the French-themed market, the creperie, and dressing up in berets and more. The whole team attends and it's a great day to reconnect with our market community, build community through (French) food, and have a fun time with each other."
Ivy Hagedorn, Programming & Marketing Director for Downtown Joplin Alliance

The Approach That Makes the Difference
|
|
Missouri Main Street Connection empowers communities through the Main Street Approachâ„¢ which was developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Main Street America. By using preservation-based economic development, downtown districts in Missouri are thriving and making an impact on their community.
Local Staff receive special opportunities to network and grow professionally through technical services they can request, such as a staff retreat, and a biennial Director's Retreat.
