Solar Martian Rovers are the eighth graders' first engineering challenge of the year. The rovers serve as a foundation for students to better understand linear motion, forces, and experimental design, with a focus on design thinking. Using solar panels and a combination of gear, pulleys, and/or direct drive, students build a rover that will be tested for speed, durability, and aesthetics.

Yesterday, the students put their rovers to the test in an exciting grade-wide race on the tennis courts!
