IMPORTANT DATES FOR SENIOR FAMILIES
CELEBRATING THE CLASS OF 2023 AT SENIOR SEND-OFF
Seniors and their families, faculty and staff, as well as Grades 5-11 students gathered in Ruston Amphitheatre on Friday, May 12 for a bittersweet farewell assembly for our seniors. This special tradition takes place on the last day of classes for the Class of 2023 before they begin their senior projects. After the assembly, students met in the Upper School Quad for a class photo in front of the senior wall, which showcased more than 163 colleges and universities that accepted our seniors.

EIGHTH GRADE SCIENCE STUDENTS EXPLORE PHYSICS AT MAGIC MOUNTAIN
Laguna Science 8 students traveled to Six Flags Magic Mountain on Friday, May 12 to experience how thrilling physics can be in an outdoor classroom. Students collected data via their smartphones on various rides throughout the day while demonstrating their understanding of Newtonian Mechanics and experimental design. The physical data collected was analyzed and used to calculate forces acting on a rider at different points during the rides. Students also had the opportunity to conduct an experiment they designed beforehand.

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS
This week, we celebrated our invaluable Family Association and parent volunteers with an appreciation luncheon at Brass Bear Uptown. We are so grateful for their selfless support of our students, faculty, and community throughout the school year. Without their tireless efforts, our accomplishments this year would not have been possible.

During the luncheon, we recognized this year's FA Board members for their work, and welcomed the new slate of officers who will lead the Family Association next year. Special appreciation to FA Board President Debbie Popovich for her enthusiasm and strong leadership, and our senior parents (pictured above) for their unwavering commitment to Laguna over the years.
ART SHOW AND SPRING CONCERT PHOTOS ARE HERE
What a magical evening showcasing the talents of our young Lower School artists and musicians. The animal-themed spring event celebrated the beauty and wonder of the animal kingdom through the eyes of our students. Bravo, Lower School!
FOURTH GRADE COMPETES IN BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
On May 11, fourth grade students from Crane, Montessori Center, Riviera Ridge, and Laguna Blanca participated in The Battle of the Books which took place in Crane's library. For months, students have worked diligently to read seven acclaimed chapter books. In class, they had discussions, wrote summaries, and practiced identifying events and quotes from each book. Students from all schools collaborated together and answered questions regarding the various books.
THIRD GRADE PROMOTES THEIR CLASSROOM CITY PROJECTS
Third Grade's Classroom City officially opened last week! In this popular project, Ms. Green's students delve into the workings of the city council and develop skills in communication, math, public policy, collaboration, and forward-thinking.

Other Lower School grades and third grade families were invited to enjoy the students' mini-city—complete with designed storefronts and creative products to sell. Students shopped for various products which ranged from stress balls, erasers, and rubber ducks to shells, pet treats, and more!
SECOND GRADE VISITS A LOCAL GEM
Second grade students had the best time at the Montecito Library today! Everyone could check out a book from the “honor library” to be returned anytime until they get official library cards of their own with their parents. Did you know that you can check out cool stuff like bird-watching boxes and even tents from the library?! The library welcomes future visits when students can sign up for their own library cards to get started on summer reading!
