Duvall: Let’s show them how America gets things done
A heat wave swept through our nation’s capital recently, and I’m not just talking about the weather. Politics are as heated as ever these days. In this atmosphere, it can be hard to imagine members of Congress coming together in spite of their differences to get anything done.
On the issue of trade, at least, I believe consensus is not only possible; it is happening. Representatives from the Trump administration, led by U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, and congressional leaders are getting down to brass tacks on tweaks to the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement to win support from members of Congress.

Hemp growing season poor so far
The Midwest Hemp Council is leading the 2019 hemp growing season through the Indiana Hemp Cooperative’s research trials. Sixty licensed farmers are growing approximately 3,000 acres of hemp for seed, fiber and CBD through the cooperative.

Young: Doing the right thing for animals
As a vocal proponent for animal agriculture, I receive many letters, emails and phone calls from those who read this column, thanking me for standing up for agriculture or sharing their story. I love receiving that feedback. I love knowing that there are so many people out there who believe that the majority of those involved in the livestock industry — from producers to veterinarians, government and association representatives to allied industries — are noble in spirit.
