Virtual Lunch N' Learn Topic: Medicare Open Enrollment!
It has been almost a year since we have been able to host a lunch and learn, and we are excited to be bringing it back in a virtual format! Please join us in welcoming Terry Belanger, who has served the South Bend community as a SHIP (Senior Health Information Program) Counselor since 2016. Terry will make a short presentation on changes to Medicare programs for 2021, as well as answer questions from our attendees.

Please reserve your spot for this lunch and learn by Monday, October 19th by emailing info@thejewishfed.org.

Since we can’t meet in person, we will be ordering and delivering boxed lunches for our attendees, from Midwest Kosher Deli! To reserve a boxed lunch, please RSVP to info@thejewishfed.org or call the Federation at 574-233-1164.

All boxed lunch orders must be placed by Friday, October 16th at 5:00pm.
Ongoing Jewish Family Services programs:

  • Tech Help! – Our volunteers continue to generously offer their time on the phone to help with basic technology issues, including downloading and installing programs like Zoom and Facebook, for any community member! Please call or email Rowan at 574-309-1213 or rkelley@thejewishfed.org if you are in need of tech help, and you will be connected with a volunteer!

  • Person-to-Person Calling – Are you feeling lonely, isolated, disconnected? Would a regular call from a volunteer, to check in, to chat, be something you are interested in? Look no further! As we all continue to navigate life with social distancing, our volunteers are helping to keep our community members connected. For more information or to request calls, please call or email Rowan at 574-309-1213 or rkelley@thejewishfed.org, and we will connect you with a volunteer caller!

  • Covid Kits – Covid-19 is still a concern in our lives, and cold and flu season is coming. JFS has put together “covid kits,” including a ten pack of disposable masks, two 2oz bottles of hand sanitizer, and hand soap. These kits are available to any member of our community! If you would benefit from receiving a covid kit, please contact Rowan at 574-309-1213 or rkelley@thejewishfed.org, and we will drop off a kit at your door!

Look for new things coming!

As we wind down our needs assessment that we have been conducting this year, including feedback from the community through the Community Needs Survey in August, we will be working to enhance what JFS already does by improving our communication with the community, as well as piloting new educational programs geared toward the community’s interests! Please look for new opportunities by staying up to date with the Federation’s email blasts and the OCN. If you have an idea or a topic that you would like to see JFS address in the future, please let us know, by calling or emailing Rowan at 574-309-1213 or rkelley@thejewishfed.org.
