Pacifica's Reverse Egg Hunt!
|
|
Can you believe it’s been a whole year since we last saw the spring bunny here in Pacifica? He’s missed all of you, and he’ll be coming around town with a few friends starting at 3:00 on Saturday, April 16 to wish everyone a happy Spring! Make sure that you and your family are ready to greet the bunny with egg posters, costumes, or anything else you want to share to help inspire the Spring joy that the bunny has come to share with you. We will be posting a link on our city website, Facebook, and Nextdoor on the day of the reverse egg hunt so that you can follow the bunny in real time as he visits everyone!

Please Remember to
Drive Carefully When Foggy
|
|
The Pacifica Police Department has some safety tips about driving in foggy conditions. Considering it’s almost impossible to see the road ahead of you if it’s foggy out, you shouldn’t drive the same as you would during a clear day. Slow down and adjust your speed so you can react to what’s in front of you.
Driving in fog can be just as dangerous as driving in rain or snow, so make sure you know how to drive correctly in it to avoid an accident. Slow down (yes, we already mentioned that) and allow extra time to reach your destination. Make your vehicle visible to others both ahead of you and behind you by using your low-beam headlights, and make sure your taillights will also be on. Use fog lights if you have them.
Never use your high-beam lights in the fog; this is a common mistake. Using high beam lights causes glare, making it more difficult for you to see what’s ahead of you on the road. Leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to account for sudden stops or changes in the traffic pattern. Ensure you are staying in the proper lane and follow the lines on the road with your eyes. Help keep our roads safe. We want everyone to make it to their destination safely.

Are You Prepared for a Tsunami?

Recent events remind us all we live, work and play in the tsunami hazard zone. The January 15 tsunami generated by the volcanic eruption off the island of Tonga. The anniversary of the magnitude 9.0 earthquake in Japan that generated a devastating tsunami on March 11, 2011. The magnitude 7.4 earthquake off the coast of Japan on Wednesday, March 16.
Throughout Tsunami Preparedness Week, we will post information daily to our sites on Nextdoor and Facebook featuring useful information, resources and strategies to help you and your family to be tsunami ready. Please share this information with family, friends and neighbors. Be informed. Be prepared. Have a plan.

Please watch this video invitation from County Manager Mike Callagy to join our first event, a virtual convening on April 22, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm where we will learn, discuss, and commit to ending homelessness. Registration and website information coming soon.
