Greetings!
The City Council has granted a 15-day extension to the public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the General Plan Update and the Sharp Park Specific Plan, see the Press Release. The new deadline for comments on the DEIR is March 8, 2022, and the City encourages your review and comments. The documents are available here.
A few other important City Council updates: On Monday, 2/14, the Council discussed the City’s 10-year Financial Forecast and directed further assessment of the feasibility of voter-approved tax measures in the future. This report and discussion are part of the Vision 2025 & Beyond Financial Sustainability Study process, for which there will be much more public engagement this spring. The City Council also approved the introduction of an ordinance prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco in Pacifica.
Then, at a City Council meeting on Tuesday, 2/15, the Council reviewed the Wastewater Capital Improvement Program and information about wastewater rates for the next five years, and set a Public Hearing for Monday, April 11, 2022, to consider 3.5% wastewater rate increases for the next five years to continue to fund wastewater infrastructure improvements and program operation to continue the award-winning public health and safety and environmental benefits delivered by the City’s Wastewater Division. The report is here and the video of the meeting can be viewed here.
Sincerely,
Kevin Woodhouse
City Manager

The Hazards of Living in Scenic Pacifica
|
|
Join a virtual panel on Sunday February 27th 4:00 PM.
Register to attend:
Sharp Park and Pacific Manor residents famously struggle with buildings perched on crumbling cliffs, eroded by the power of the ocean. In Vallemar, strong winds have toppled trees.
Forty years ago, in January 1982, western Linda Mar was flooded by a powerful deluge, and San Pedro Creek overflowed, seriously damaging the bridges at Adobe Drive and Peralta Road. In the back of the valley, the unthinkable happened when a mudslide roared into a family home, killing three children.
The houses on San Pedro Beach and Shelter Cove routinely face the pounding surf of winter storms and king tides. Occasionally some houses are destroyed by these forces.
After the panelists have had a chance to share their stories, attendees will be encouraged to join in with theirs.
