Greetings!
I’d like to give a big shout-out to the City’s Economic Development Program and Committee for organizing and holding a very successful Small Businesses Job Fair this week, attracting more than 75 prospective employees to connect with dozens of local small businesses for potential employment! Small business assistance and support is a key objective of the City’s Economic Development Program and Committee. If you are aware of businesses wishing to participate in future job fairs, please have them contact the program at
Please see this important Press Release regarding the General Plan Update and Sharp Park Specific Plan. This week the final draft documents were released in preparation for the Planning Commission’s hearing on these documents, which will occur on Monday, June 6. Note that the Planning Commission meeting previously scheduled for June 1 has been adjusted to June 6 to provide additional time for public review of these important documents. Therefore, the Planning Commission will not convene on June 1, 2022. All agenda items that were scheduled for June 1st will now be considered at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission, which will be held via Zoom, on June 6, 2022 at 7:00 PM. The Planning Commission’s recommendations are anticipated to be considered by the City Council later in June, tentatively scheduled for a special City Council meeting on Saturday, June 25 (adjusted from the earlier communicated tentative date of June 18, to align with the Planning Commission schedule).
Also note that the City Council at last Monday’s meeting directed a temporary return to 100 percent virtual meetings via Zoom from now through the end of July due to rising COVID cases. This applies to all Commissions and Committees too, such as the above-mentioned Planning Commission meeting on June 6, 2022.
Sincerely,
Kevin Woodhouse
City Manager

Police Chief's Advisory Panel
The Pacifica Police Department Seeks Applicants
for the Police Chief's Advisory Panel
|
|
Effective, transparent policing in any community involves continual, robust communication between community members and their Police Department. Seeking to increase the communication between the Pacifica Police Department and the incredible, engaged community we serve, the Pacifica City Council has authorized the formation of the Police Chief’s Advisory Panel.
The Panel will consist of no more than ten community members that represent a diverse cross section of the community. Panelists will meet as a group once per month with the Chief of Police to discuss policing and issues in the community. The Panel will serve as a conduit for a back and forth flow of communication with the Chief of Police and the community.

Shared Micromobility Feasibility Study
and Implementation Plan
|
|
The City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) is seeking public input on the San Mateo County Shared Micromobility Feasibility Study and Implementation Plan. Micromobility refers to services such as bikeshare and scooter-share, where users are able to check out various small and light-weight vehicles for short term use through a self-service rental portal. The Study’s key deliverables include investigating the feasibility of a micromobility program, compiling research and best practices, and developing program guidelines to support jurisdictions that wish to launch a program.
C/CAG has developed a short survey that aims to identify the publics’ interests, concerns, and recommendations related to a potential shared micromobility program in San Mateo County.
The survey is accessible here.
Please feel free to participate in the survey and share the link to other interested parties in San Mateo County. The survey will close on June 17th at 5:00pm.
For further information on the Study, please click here and direct any questions to C/CAG staff Kim Wever at kwever@smcgov.org.

That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers to install 50,000 free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events. This spring we’ll install free smoke alarms and share safety information in communities where it’s safe to do so.
