There are several projects underway in Chino. Many of these projects have been in the works for years and once completed, will bring much needed improvements to our community.


We appreciate your patience as you navigate the inconvenience of detours and road closures. Remember to plan ahead and follow posted signage and detours.

Chino and Montclair Area Overlay Project

Chino and Montclair areas for pavement rehabilitation. (click on map for full notice)

The County of San Bernardino Department of Public Works is beginning the Chino & Montclair Area Overlay Project. The project will include overlaying the roads with various resurfacing treatments to improve the look and driving experience.


This work will be performed between September 2022 and April 2023. Normal working hours will be between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday.


There will be “No Parking Signs” posted indicating the specific dates work will be performed on the street. During working hours, access to the public will be limited. In an effort to keep residents, crews and property safe, please follow these guidelines:

1. Do not park your vehicles on the roadway

2. Do not allow water to run on the roadway

3. Do not allow children to play in the roadway

4. Do not place trash cans or other debris on the roadway

Road Improvements in The Preserve

Pine Avenue from West Preserve Loop to Homecoming Drive

Pine Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions between West Preserve Loop and Homecoming Drive for the duration of the project. Additionally, access to East Preserve Loop south of Pine will be closed for the duration of the project. Motorists may notice periodic reconfigurations and K-Rail as the project progresses. Access will remain one lane in both directions.


Detours: Residents of The Preserve can take Kimball as an alternate route. Eastvale residents are encouraged to take Archibald north to Merrill. Residents south of Pine can use Market Street to Hellman, additionally, Legacy Park St is now opened and available as an alternate route. Truck traffic will be diverted to Merrill. 

 

Kimball Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Rincon Meadows 

Expect intermittent lane closures with at least one lane open at all times. Still to come: New traffic signals at Quality Way and Fire Station #63, landscape installation, and street light installation, may require occasional day-time lane closures.


Kimball Avenue from Fern Avenue to Euclid Avenue

Intermittent lane closures in both directions may extend to east of Euclid. At least one lane in each direction will be open at all times. Expect longer delays and allow for extra travel time. Work being completed is part of Ontario development and includes sewer work and pavement restoration. Lane closure is expected to last until early October.


Merrill Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Carpenter Avenue

City of Ontario development related improvements to widen Merrill to 4-lanes. Work expected to be completed by end of 2023.


Other City Road Improvements

Chino Avenue from Saddle Lane to Euclid Avenue

Occasional lane closures as striping is completed through mid October.


Central Avenue at Eucalyptus

Ongoing temporary lane closures at the intersection related to development related public improvements to roadway, sidewalk, and traffic signal. Work to be completed by end of the year.


Cypress Avenue from Chino Avenue to Walnut Ave and

Westbound Walnut Avenue from Cypress Avenue to San Antonio

Closure in place Monday through Friday 7:00am-4:30pm beginning May 26 through November 2022 for the installation of a water transmission main.


Schaefer Avenue from East End to Euclid Avenue

Temporary lane closures from 8:00am - 4:00pm on short portions of the road for asphalt repairs in preparation for slurry seal pouring beginning in October. At that time residents should anticipate single lane closures in either direction.

  • September 26th - 30th, Crack filling
  • October 3rd - 14th, Slurry pouring
  • October 24th - November 11th, Layout and Striping


 

Ramp Concrete Improvements 

Temporary lane closures from 8:00am-4:00pm on short portions of the road for concrete improvements at the following locations:

North Side at 16th, 17th, and 19th Street along Chino Ave 

September 26th - October 7th - Removal and Pouring of Concrete Ramps

 

South Side at 16th, 17th, 19th Street along Chino Ave

October 13th - Wednesday October 26th - Removal and Pouring Concrete Ramps

 

Norton Ave Cul De Sac South of Wintress Dr 

September 26th - September 30th - Relocate Street Light

November 1st - November 15th - Sidewalk and Ramp Improvements 

91 Eastbound Closure


Friday, September 30 at 10 p.m. to Monday, October 3 at 5 a.m. Dates are subject to change, due to weather and other factors. If needed, the closure will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

• Weekend full closure of eastbound 91 lanes, east of Main St. to just west of Interstate 15

• Weekend full closure of eastbound Main St. on-ramp to eastbound 91

• Weekend full closure of eastbound 91 Express Lanes


DETOUR ROUTES:

  • Avoid the area by using Route 60, Route 71, Route 57, or Interstates 15 or 215 to reconnect to eastbound 91


  • If you must travel on eastbound 91, expect significant delays and use the northbound/southbound 15 connector:
  • From southbound I-15, exit at Magnolia Ave., enter northbound I-15 and use the 15/91 connector to eastbound 91.
  • From northbound I-15, exit at Hidden Valley Pkwy., enter southbound I-15 and use the 15/91 connector to eastbound 91.



More about this Project:

The Riverside County Transportation Commission, in partnership with Caltrans, is repaving lanes and making repairs to sound walls and associated concrete barriers along the outer portions of eastbound and westbound 91 in Corona. Work will take place mainly between the Lincoln Avenue interchange and Interstate 15, an area with a long history of roadway settlement due to the Temescal Wash. This work is part of an ongoing investment in the heavily traveled 91 corridor.

55 Hour SR-60 Closure Scheduled for

October 7-10

SR-60 Corridor Improvement at Ramona Avenue Overcrossing


Westbound SR-60 at Ramona Avenue

All westbound lanes will be closed for 55 hours beginning 11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7 through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10. Traffic will be rerouted at the Ramona Avenue Off-Ramp and back to SR-60 On-Ramp. Anticipate traffic delays.  

 

Cal Trans will be monitoring the intersection. Additional signage will be put in place on SR-60, I-15 and SR-71, public to utilize detours to avoid delays.



RAMONA AVENUE BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED to through traffic traveling north or south beginning at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7 through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10 This closure will occur in conjunction with CalTrans' 55 hour W/B Closure at Ramona Ave (details below) to assist with traffic flow.


PLAN AHEAD and drive safely being mindful of closures and alternate routes.

More about this project:

This work is part of The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) State Route 60(SR-60) Corridor Improvement Project at Ramona Avenue Overcrossing in the City of Chino. The project is expected to be complete in late 2023. Please use caution and reduce your speed in the construction zone. 

SR 60 / Central Avenue Interchange Project

As work progresses on the SR 60/Central Avenue project crews are installing landscaping at the on- and off-ramps while continuing construction on the west side of the Central Avenue bridge, retaining walls, and the on-ramps. 


SR 60 between Ramona Avenue and Mountain Avenue will have Intermittent lane closures on in either direction nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday (into Saturday morning) during the month of September.
