Transit-Oriented Development Update
As we get closer to a proposed set of zoning revisions to strengthen transit-oriented development policies in Indianapolis, it’s important to remember that establishing good land use around transit is already the City’s official policy. A number of adopted plans identify pedestrian-friendly, land-efficient development near transit as a local priority, as well as restricting auto-oriented uses like parking, drive-throughs, automotive dealerships, gas stations, and car washes.

The Policy Evaluation Report , one of the first deliverables in the current TOD Zoning analysis, reviews all DMD-adopted plans and policies to deepen the understanding of the issues and opportunities with regard to development along the BRT corridors, with a special focus on the Blue Line (which is the focus of the current FTA grant).
