Interim Public Hearing Procedures
In response to Governor Holcomb's stay-at-home executive orders, the MPO has developed Interim Public Hearing Procedures (click here to view). These primarily address electronic meetings (phone/internet access) that are likely to occur while implementing social distancing. These procedures will remain through the duration of their enabling executive orders, which can be viewed by clicking here. For questions or concerns regarding these interim procedures, please contact Jen Higginbotham at (317) 327-7587.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month
The MPO strongly encourages everyone to drive safely and avoid distractions when driving. During April, the MPO will be sharing different information in relation to Distracted Driving Awareness Month. To learn more about distracted driving, click here.
Carmel Closes Part of Monon
The City of Carmel is taking steps to improve social distancing compliance during Indiana's stay-at-home order, including closing down part of the Monon Trail between Gradle Drive and Main Street. Seating and equipment at the Midtown Plaza is also being removed to deter people from gathering there. Learn more by clicking here.
IndyGo Implements Rear Boarding and Reduced Schedule
IndyGo is implementing new safety measures and changing its service schedules to prevent the spread of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). These measures are intended to increase the safety of transit riders and employees by lessening the need for non-essential interactions and reducing service frequency to reflect declining ridership. Transportation and COVID-19 Webinar
The Transportation Research Board hosted a webinar on Monday, March 23 that identified a holistic approach transportation and health agencies may take to contain and manage the COVID-19 outbreak. Presenters discussed their experience with other outbreaks and identified challenges COVID-19 has specifically presented in their transportation systems. Click here to learn more and to watch the webinar.
MPO offices are located in the Indianapolis City-County Building, which has been closed until further notice due to COVID-19. However, we are all working remotely and continue with our normal activities.
