Fun under the sun in Hancock Park!
|
|
Hancock Park was buzzing on July 4, 2019! Face painters, balloon twisters, caricature artists, stilt walkers, jugglers and magicians filled the park. The celebration included many bounce houses and of course Kona Ice. The snow cones were a hit, such a hit that 1,600 snow cones were given away!
The Dahlonega Action Dogs also showed up to entertain the crowd with their high-flying tricks! Owner Rick, along with three very important border collies, Ripp, age 6, Jessie, age 5, and Pete almost 2 took the stage of Hancock Park and did not disappoint. Together this family brought smiles to each and every member of the audience!
To end our celebration at Hancock Park, the band “Jive Revival” knocked our socks off with their soul infused jazz sound! The band had people dancing and singing along!

First Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest!
|
Chastain Southern Catering and Outback Café’s first annual 4
th
of July Hot dog Eating Contest was a complete success! The event had eleven participants competing for the grand prize of $100. While many competitors signed up looking for fun, one person took the spotlight. Dale Boone a Brookhaven native and an internationally ranked hot dog eating champion made a splash in this year’s contest! The contest required participants to eat 15 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Boone finished with 4 minutes to spare eating 15 hot dogs in 6 minutes and 7 seconds. The event was one of the first here in Dahlonega and the community absolutely loved it.

Shining a Spotlight on our Volunteers!
|
|
We would like to thank everyone who chipped in to make this Independence Day Celebration wonderful! This includes our wonderful MC Sam McDuffie, the talented Adam Jarrard who gave us a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, the local JORTC for honoring us with their presentation of colors, and Ron Larson for reading the Bill of Rights at this year’s Patriotic Ceremony! The Patriotic Ceremony wouldn't have been what it was without the help of these amazing community members!

The Market is bigger and better than ever! Each Tuesday 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm local farmers line the sidewalks of Hancock Park with freshly grown produce, plants, herbs, bread and so much more!
Farmers Market applications are closed for 2019. If you are interested in becoming a seller at the Farmers Market, keep an eye out for the 2020 Farmers Market Application on our website,
https://dahlonegadda.org/ .
Also we would like to inform the community that due to Trail Fest the Saturday Farmers Market will not be taking place on September 7th. However, the Farmers Market will also be extended to October 19th!
