A woman on the radio said she started to wear lipstick and it changed her life. Small change. Large residual.
A high school friend who recently joined my health club post-retirement said after 30 years of serving a company, it was time to serve herself. She faithfully attends group classes and wants to take control of her weight which she did not focus on during her demanding career. Today's goal. Longterm benefit.
I learned to do a headstand in yoga class. Self-challenge. Mighty feeling. (except my shirt rides up :-)
Reinventing ourselves in small and large ways is important. Whether a simple habit of wearing lipstick or a tougher challenge of losing weight, we need self challenges. They help us to grow, to learn, to better ourselves. They aid us in not becoming stagnant, being wiser, and changing perspective. (The perspective of the world upside-down while posed in a headstand is definitely interesting!) Self-challenges can achieve a goal, boost our self-worth, and assist us in recognizing our power.
In what ways are you challenging yourself today ... this week ... this year?
