In our triangle of 19 townhomes here in Redington Beach, each has varying views. Hubby has mentioned several times that we "should have bought one of the end units," because their wraparound decks on the second floor offer the best view in the neighborhood overlooking the gorgeous Intercoastal water. (Only took him 18 years to think of this.)
Seems for each house, there are pluses and minuses to their views and locales. Some overlook a lovely park to the north and catch some of the sunset from across the street; yet their back decks are uncomfortably close to a few other houses. Some, like ours, have the best view and access to the common swimming pool; yet the front faces a tall wall of shrubbery that separate our houses from condos in the neighborhood on the other side.
When I complimented the owner of the unit overlooking the water on their pretty view, she agreed, but pointed out their back doesn't face the pool. Across the pool area to another end unit - one of the largest layouts - inside is very pretty and quite spacious. It easily steps out to the pool in the back, yet their front overlooks an ugly parking lot.
See? Can't have it all.
Nothing
has it all. Not one thing is life is perfect all around - everything has pluses and minuses.
Although
this
part might be favorable,
that
part is unfavorable. Although
this
segment we love,
that
other one we dislike. We like
this
feature, hate
that
one. This example can pertain to anything in life:
- a husband or wife who has one set of admirable traits and another set of annoying habits
- a place of employment which offers a wonderful batch of coworkers, yet the work is utterly boring
- our physical shapes, which might boast shapely legs but a thick rolly waistline
- a car which gets good gas mileage yet offers a bumpy ride

, I am sitting in my "outdoor office" under a tiki umbrella at the Snack Shack along the beach. Palm trees are swaying, a nice breeze is blowing, a server brought me a healthy breakfast, and my puppy is snoozing at my side. Ahhhh, yes, the view is inspiring and gorgeous!
But!!!
(We're good at always including a
BUT
) ... there are a zillion lovebugs!! These pesky things are flying around, landing on my keyboard, crawling on my ice coffee, swerving in my face. I am swatting, flicking and jerking my arms. They are on the picnic table, across my legs, down my shirt, and inside my purse. God love their splendid talent of being able to fly around stuck to each other while love-making!! But, oh huff 'n puff, please leave me be ... I'm trying to write here!
Yes, snippeteers, consistently there will be positive and negative features about ANY person, place, or thing.
What is perfect in life? What "has it all?" Nothing. So just enjoy YOUR view and try to ignore the pesky side of things.
