To thank and unite the people who support the arts community in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, Arts Council launched a membership model. When you donate $100+, you join a membership tier and receive fun benefits!
In honor of Arts Council's founding year, when you donate $1,949 you join the 1949 society, a leadership level. You will join a group of pioneering leaders in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County who fuel the city of the arts.

Fueling Access
With your support as an Arts Council member, Arts Council serves as a convener and collaborator through venue access, programming, technical support, and ensuring creative spaces remain available and active for artists and audiences. In FY25, Arts Council invested $452,041 towards in-kind subsidies and support.

We are collaborating with NC Black Repertory for the International Black Theatre Festival, A/perture for a Spielberg Summer film series, and Terpsicorps presenting AscenDANCE. | | International Black Theatre Festival comes to the Arts Council Campus! | | The festival transforms downtown Winston-Salem into a global performing arts hub. If you want to know more about the festival, the gallery opening is the perfect event for you.
The opening exhibition and feature presentation for the NC Black Repertory Company (NCBLAC) during the International Black Theatre Festival is the Gallery Reception alongside a film screening of, "Holy Ground: The Legacy of the National Black Theatre Festival."

The film features interviews with Black Theatre legends, groundbreaking performances, archival NBTF footage, and a behind-the-scenes look at NC Black Rep. This visual narrative shines a light on the birthplace of the National Black Theatre Festival, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the City of Arts and Innovation.

Arts Council in the Community
Juneteenth

Cécile Boynton, Community Grants and Services Manager, oversees one of Arts Council's legacy mission's, grant making. Because of her passion towards artists, she goes beyond the bounds of her role and into the community to connect.
Pictured here is the booth she created for Juneteenth. She offered discounts to the upcoming Lyrics on the Lake show, spread awareness about this awesome newsletter, shared the Arts Council's pillars and gave away Arts for Everybody t-shirts. Not pictured is the Mural Artists Meet-Up where she shared news about the Artist Support Grant.

Your support as an Arts Council member strengthens the Community Grants Fund and provides a conduit for artists and arts organizations across Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. In FY 25 Arts Council awarded $1,050,712 in grant funding.

Artist Support Grant

Artist Support Grants (formerly Regional Artist Project Grants) is a regional grant program that provides direct support to individual artists for professional and artistic development, either to enhance their skills and abilities to create work, or to improve their business operations and capacity to bring the work to audiences. This program will provide grants of $500 to $2,000 to support committed, gifted individual artists and small, unincorporated groups of collaborating artists residing in Forsyth, Davidson, Davie, Guilford, and Randolph counties and is intended to support a broad range of talented artists in the genres of visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, music composition, choreography, and interdisciplinary arts.
The program is operated in partnership with The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, Arts Davidson County, Davie County Arts Council, High Point Arts Council and The Randolph Arts Guild. Funding is provided by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
