uGO September Update

The Mobility in the Modern Era virtual speaker series is underway. We had another great presentation in August from Kim Lucas of the City of Pittsburgh's Department of Mobility & Infrastructure about short and long-term innovation in transportation. This month, we continue the virtual series with a presentation by Will Burns of Spin on the topic of shared mobility - where it's been, where it's likely to go and its impact on urban mobility to date. Join us!
Mobility in the Modern Era

Join us on Wednesday, September 23 at 4pm on Zoom for a conversation with Will Burns from Spin on the way shared mobility (shared e-scooters and bikes) has impacted the way people get around cities. Will's presentation will be followed by a moderated Q&A. PE and AICP credits are available. Click here for more information about the series and registration links.
Bike Fix-It Stations in the Circle

All of the bike fix-it stations on Case Western Reserve University's campus are back in working order. These stations offer cyclists a bike pump, bike tools, and a handy QR code to scan for directions on how to use the tools. For locations of all the fix-it stations around the Circle scroll down to the map on our trip planning page and toggle on the “Bike Fix-it Station" layer.
Scooter Safety

Spin is offering Spin Safe Digital, an online video series, to help educate riders on the rules of the road. Watch the five lessons and take a quiz. If you receive a perfect score, you will earn $5 in Spin credit. Either way, riders can get a free helmet shipped directly to them for participating.
Road Safety PSA

While there may be fewer cars on the road, it's important to adhere to speed limits and resist the temptation to use wireless devices while driving. In a recent news brief, Governor DeWine shared the sobering news that July 2020 was the deadliest month on Ohio's highways since 2007. While the overall volume of traffic has decreased since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, average speed have increased. One hundred and fifty four people lost their lives on Ohio highways in July. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) attributes the uptick in fatalities to higher speeds and distracted driving. Since the end of April, there have been over 2,200 drivers issued citations by the Ohio Safety Patrol for traveling over 100 mph.
