Aviva Children’s Services:
“We have been working with a woman who adopted her granddaughter earlier this year. She has her grandson living with her as a kinship placement too, and she will be adopting him in April. This past December, her husband passed away unexpectedly after a surgery. Their situation was then further complicated by a change in the state payment system for foster parents, which has momentarily delayed checks, and the fact that the grandmother contracted COVID-19 herself. This family had no way to pay their March rent, but funds from the United for Southern Arizona COVID-19 Fund were able to help. Our team will also be providing clothing and hygiene supplies and connections to behavioral health for the children, if needed, as they work through these transitions and move forward as a family.”
