vEM Town Hall 2024 - Survey Results

The volume EM October 2024 Town Hall was a part of the vEM Technology Forum. As in 2023, we hosted an interactive session at the conclusion of the Town Hall, where attendees were invited to share their insights and feedback.

This year’s session included a mix of questions aimed at capturing a broad perspective on the state of the field and its future direction. Many of these questions echoed those from the 2023 Town Hall survey, allowing us to track trends and gauge shifts over the past year. Additionally, several questions were crafted by individual working groups focusing on the specific use of vEM community resources, tools, and the evolving needs within the field.

To explore the full details of the session and see how the community's feedback will shape our initiatives moving forward, read more here.

vEM case study

vEM reveals the cellular composition of the Blood Nerve Barrier

by Giulia Casal, Ian J. White, Jemima J. Burden & Alison C. Lloyd

DOI: 10.1242/focalplane.22865

The blood-brain barrier in the central nervous system is well understood, but the blood-nerve barrier (BNB) in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) remains poorly defined. The BNB is crucial for PNS function, yet its structure, regulation, and cellular composition are not well understood. This case study used SBF-SEM and AT-SEM to investigate the BNB’s cellular composition and its interactions with the vascular components. Read more here.
