duh - we all do it

While playing pickleball, when we muff a shot, hit the ball too hard and send it soaring out of the court, serve out of bounds, whiff the ball completely (funny every time) or some other clownish act while swinging the paddle, we tend to feel self-conscious and idiotic. Uh ... DUH. So when one of my fellow pickleballers messes up, I try to make that person feel better - as we laugh together - by saying, "HEY, WE ALL DO IT."

Because it's true. We do ALL do it. Every pickleball player misses the ball at times, muffs a shot, or hits it way too hard like a baseball ... it is the nature of the game. After all, we are not professional players.

Being human is the nature of life. So when you muff up something, go at it too hard, miss your mark, or some other dufus act in a given moment, hour, or day - and feel self-conscious and idiotic about it ... DON'T.

Snippeteers, never feel as if you are "the only one" in the room to act, think, feel, do, or show something idiotically. Chances are, MANY others have done / thought / said / felt that same thing.

Hey, we all do it.

This goes from accidentally tooting in public ...

  • to getting caught by someone else while bitching at your husband
  • to saying the wrong thing to someone
  • to waving back at someone who was actually waving to the person behind you
  • to tripping up the steps in front of your priest as you walk into church
  • to burning the bagel in the toaster - every time
  • to saying “You, too” when the waiter tells you to enjoy your meal
  • to walking into a glass door
  • to wearing your pickleball pants inside out

The humanity list of FOOLISH THINGS WE DO goes on and on. DUH!

After all, we are not professionals - we are only human beings.

So give yourself a break next time you "feel like a clown," eh?? Ditch the self-consciousness and know you are not the only silly clumsy human in the room.

AND ... go easy on others - without your judgement - when you witness them doing something brainless.

Because guess what? We ALL do it.

snippeteer backtalk

on when it's good for you

Snippeteers - Don't trust me to remember your locale. PLEASE

remember to include your TOWN & STATE when you backtalk ...

even if you think I know it already!

"Many times I've been in a work scenario where someone I have worked with for years has to make a decision about a career change. Even though I know if s/he leaves, we'll be negatively affected, my advice is: You have to do what is best for you and your family, not what is best for us."

~ Joanne in New York

"Too many live their lives for others. Life is short. Stop it!"

"… it’s a thing! Your children are blessed by your planning, clearing and downsizing. As an only child with hoarders for parents and in-laws, we may have to have the local firefighters ignite a controlled burn for training exercises! It’s all-consuming and overwhelming! I would never leave my son that kind of mess. God Bless you on your next crib, making new family memories."

~ XO, Ang in Maryland

"This Snippet arrived at just the right time in my life. My husband and I are now debating a move. I believe downsize might be overstated in my case, but we want a simpler life with less maintenance and housekeeping. And to be honest, I am not crazy about 'keeping' a house anymore. Kids are also a bit upset. But we’re 74 and 73 and want to enjoy what’s left of life. Thanks for some inspiration."
