To all who are struggling with the weight of this moment --
May we make space for our grief, our anger, our fear. May we honor the toll on our hearts and spirits amidst our shared calling to create healing for the earth and ourselves as wholly inseperable from the Earth.
There will be much time and space in the coming days for analysis and strategizing about ways forward for climate and environmental justice in these next years. For now, please take good care of yourselves and neighbors with comfort and community and the assurance that Love is the greatest power in us and around us. Mark A. Miller and Lindy Thompson's beautiful song "I Choose Love" reminds us of this and calls our spirits to seek the goodness and truth that is still ours to love and liberate from all that is life-denying.
Rev. Susan Hendershot, President of Interfaith Power and Light released the following message on the election outcome. May we take her final words to heart: “Our work rests on the shoulders of generations of climate advocates and environmental justice leaders, and we will continue that work because it is our moral calling to do so. The work of Interfaith Power & Light will be more important in the coming months than maybe ever before, and we need you with us in this movement.”
We need each other now more than ever. We will perservere in beauty, in truth, and in love and we will continue to rise to the holy ground of our belonging to each other and to the Earth.
In faith,
New Mexico & El Paso Interfaith Power and Light
