Marketplace Open Enrollment Through January 15, 2023

Families may be able to get more savings and lower costs on Marketplace health insurance plans in 2023:

  • More people will qualify for help paying for health coverage, even those who weren’t eligible in the past, due to the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act.
  • Most people currently enrolled in a Marketplace plan may qualify for more tax credits.
  • Health insurance premium costs will go down after these new savings.
  • All insurance plans in the Marketplace for children continue to include vision coverage and offer dental coverage.

Family Glitch is Fixed!

The spouse and dependents of an employee may now qualify for Marketplace plans if the employer offered premiums for the family are more than 9.12% of household income. This is an important change from previous years and will make more families eligible. An employee may keep their employer sponsored coverage while other family members can now get more affordable Marketplace coverage.

A Fun Time Was Had by All

Thank you to all our sponsors, donors, and all that attended!

This year was no exception, we had so many fantastic families who, from what we could tell, had a wonderful time! The Cookies & Cocoa event would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors and friends.

Santa and his helper, Buddy, were on hand to take their picture with the kids. The University of South Dakota OT/PT students took time away from studying for their final exams to provide some fun sensory-friendly activities. The Siouxland Library was also there to help kids sign up for a library card and even brought examples of some of the popular books now available. There were plenty of sweet treats thanks to Sinless Sweets, SF and Sunshine Foods, Sioux Falls. And the holiday spirit definitely was heard loud and clear with the music provided by Vickie Stewart.

Here are some of the wonderful memories shared at this event.

Getting the solution right is important to help these children read and write. Learn more....

Transition Planning, Start Early

The preparation for further education, employment, and independent living is referred to as transition planning. Despite the clear directive of the law, transition planning is often overlooked, and sometimes even avoided, at IEP meetings. Below are 3 common myths about transition planning, and information to debunk each of them.  Click here to learn more on debunking 3 common myths.

Accommodation & Modifications: What do they Mean?

If your child has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan, you will likely hear the words accommodation and modification. While the two words sound similar, they mean different things. Click on the image to access this document where you can learn the differences between the two and get some parenting tips.
