Summer office hours will run through Friday, July 29th. During this time, offices will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 9am to 5pm and will be closed on Fridays.

FREE VIRTUAL SUMMER PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS WITH DR. DAN - MONDAYS AT 12PM CT/11AM MT
Join other parents and Dr. Dan of Parent Child Journey: An Individualized Approach to Raising Your Challenging Child, for a participant-led discussion. Different themes are selected by the group each week. Share experiences and ideas. Support each other. Brainstorm solutions. You are not alone.

RAPID CITY SIBSHOP ON SATURDAY, JUNE 18TH
10:30 AM TO 1:30 PM
Sibshops are a FREE program designed specifically for brothers and sisters (ages 8 to 12) of children with special needs or disabilities. Sibshops are a time to meet others and build friendships, have fun and take part in recreational activities, and enjoy a meal together and share feelings with others who really know what it like to have a sibling with a disability.

SD DEPT OF LABOR AND REGULATION OFFERS SUMMER PASSPORT CAREER WORKSHOPS FOR AGES 14-25. SESSIONS BEGIN JUNE 14!
SD youth ages 14-24 are welcome to visit their DLR offices for a summer full of employer engagement, life skills, industry tours, career exploration, post-secondary tours, and more. Both virtual and in-person sessions (Brookings, Huron, Madison, Mitchell, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Watertown, and Yankton) are offered. Youth may even earn $25 for every in-person event they attend. DR. ROSS GREENE VIRTUAL TRAINING - JUNE 23 & 24 COLLABORATIVE & PROACTIVE SOLUTIONS
The Center for Disabilities is offering a training by Dr. Ross Greene, known for his influential books, The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Lost & Found, and Raising Human Beings. Dr. Greene served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years and is now Founding Director of the non-profit Lives in the Balance which aims to disseminate the innovative, evidence-based intervention model called Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) and support caregivers through a vast array of free web-based resources; advocate on behalf of kids with concerning behaviors and their caregivers; and advocate for systemic changes to encourage the use of non-punitive, non-exclusionary interventions. PUBLIC INPUT OPPORTUNITIES
Independent Living Services in South Dakota. Persons with disabilities, family members, and others are invited to help the SD Statewide Independent Living Council learn what South Dakotans with significant disabilities need in order to live independently in their homes and communities. The survey is voluntary and anonymous. Please complete the survey and disseminate widely so others may do the same.
U.S. Census Bureau Surveys (2)
1) Parents and caregivers of children ages 3–17 who meet one or more of the following criteria are invited to complete a national research survey about children’s health topics
- have a child with some degree of permanent hearing loss
- have a child who lives in another household at least part of the time
- have a child who has ever tested positive for COVID-19
- parent/caregiver has even tested positive for COVID-19
The research session will be conducted online using secure videoconferencing. The session will take about 60 minutes. We will provide $50 to each eligible person who participates in the 60-minute session. Federal employees are not eligible to receive the $50. If interested, please complete this short questionnaire.
2) Parents and caregivers of young adults ages 18-22 who meet one or more of the following criteria are invited to complete a national research survey about health topics related to young adults
- have a young adult with a disability or special health care need that requires a caregiver to stay involved in their healthcare
- have a young adult who lives in another household at least part of the time
- have a young adult enrolled in some form of post-secondary education that is not college
- have a young adult that has a family of their own
- have a young adult who has ever tested positive for COVID-19

Amendments to Section 504. Section 504 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in public and private programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance, including schools and postsecondary institutions. The U.S. Department of Education will gather public input on possible amendments to the Section 504 regulations in order to strengthen and protect the rights of students with disabilities. Please submit comments at www2.ed.gov/policy/rights/reg/ocr/. The Department will also hold listening sessions in the coming months.
