MARCH VIRTUAL PARENT TRAINING SERIES The Statewide Family Engagement Center and SD Parent Connection have partnered to create one-hour trainings to help parents and families understand school related topics and help children experience success at home.

Held from 7-8 PM CT / 6-7 PM MT

March 16: My Child Has Dyslexia. What Now? Sometimes students receive a diagnosis of Dyslexia from a doctor or specialist in the community. While schools in South Dakota do not formally diagnose Dyslexia, they still can provide services and supports for students who struggle to read because of it. In this session participants will learn about the difference between a diagnosis of Dyslexia and a determination of a Reading Disability by their local school district. Participants will also learn how to address concerns by asking key questions when meeting with their school team.

APRIL VITUAL STATEWIDE SIBSHOP Join other sibs from all across South Dakota! Saturday, April 10th  9 AM MT/ 10 AM CT via Zoom   Virtual Statewide Sibshops are for brothers and sisters (ages 8 to 13) of children with special needs or disabilities. Sibshops are a time to do action packed activities, play goofy games, and a time to talk about how things are going with other siblings who really know what it is like to have a sibling with a disability.
