when you're not feeling it
Hubs often poo-poos about going anywhere except to watch sports in the TV room, yet once he is somewhere, he 100% gets into the zone and has a good time.

And me? I am not a fan of "what time to be there." I don't like appointments, loathe meetings, do not prefer time commitments, nor watching the clock. I never set the alarm. Call me a free spirit, call me lazy, or just call me weary of timeframes in my sixth decade. I prefer loosey-goosey, spur of the moment, open hours during the day, freedom to do what I want, when I want: work, write, socialize, relax, play pickleball.

In Florida, whenever I sign up for morning beach yoga, I usually wake up later than I want and do not feel like rushing to get dressed, hurrying the pup to poo during his walk (have you ever tried to hurry a Dachshund?), scampering to make coffee and breakfast, and dashing out the door. Often I am zipping down the road too fast to be on time, a potential candidate for a speeding ticket, and catch up with the class already in child's pose. Rushing and "having to be there" by X time does not feel peaceful to me. Instead, I feel like cancelling and lounging in bed.

But I don't.

I am a church goer. My aim is to attend each week. I wake up later than I want and do not feel like rushing to get dressed, rushing the coffee pot and the pup, nor feel like driving 35 minutes into Baltimore City where my precious Saint Leo's Church sits in Little Italy. I feel like blowing it off and having a quiet easy Sunday morning at home.

But I don't.

Sometimes even with social scenes, I don't feel like going ... driving to get there, trying to be on time, and applying mascara. (Fair Warning: If you ever make a date with me, I typically run 7 minutes late.)

So I go ... to the social thing ... to beach yoga ... to church. Sometimes forcing myself, other times with willing energy, and sometimes without mascara.

And don't you know, snippeteers - EVERY TIME I show up, I feel glad I did. I get in the zone, whether doing yoga while listening to the waves ... or being with friends/family listening to the laughter ... or praying in the pew listening to the priest. I gaze up to the sky - or the gorgeous fresco of heaven in the church apse - or to the faces of people I like and love - and thank God He led me to that spot.

Snippeteers, we may not have the same higher energy we did in our 20s/30s/40s ... or the inspiration to get there ... or the 'get up and go' to get up and go. We may feel lazier and not prefer time constraints. We may feel like staying home where it's easy and comfy, no driving required, and which allows sweatpants, messy hair, no makeup, and plenty of time to poop.

Yet when we get there and 'get into it' ... often it's a different perspective.

Here's a little angel tip: When you are going somewhere you feel unsure of, or don't feel like going, invite your angels to accompany you. Ask them to 1) enter the room with you, 2) enjoy the people or have a productive meeting; and 3) have a pleasant experience. (I swear it works.)

Our Angels will show up with us ... even when we don't feel like going.

reactions to 'how far should we go?'
"I had a similar incident when the sprayer on a bottle of good perfume wouldn’t spray. I couldn’t take it back and every day I fooled with it trying to fix it. The bottle was almost full and it was a true waste of money, but I realized I was also wasting my time. Finally I just threw it in the trash."
