It's quite common here in North Redington Beach to walk or pedal along the beach and discover sand sculptures. They are delightful! Creative! And very good!
But who makes them?
It's as if they appear by magic. I have never ever caught a human "in the act" of sand sculpting, and almost every time I'm perusing the beach, I discover at least one sand sculpture: turtles, dolphins, sharks, mermaids, fish ... all sizes and shapes ... true tedious works of art by some invisible someone. Is it the sand faeries? Do the dolphins come out of the water during the night to create them? Maybe God does it.
Whoever it is ... I feel grateful. I tip my beach hat to them for creating sand sculptures for the simple objective of delighting people.
Mostly, we probably do not give much thought to what "goes into" making something. How about the clothes you have on right now? Someone somewhere designed it, made the fabric, and sewed it. How about the book you're holding? Someone somewhere tediously researched information, wrote the hundreds of pages of words, and published it. What about the multitude of items in your house? Someone somewhere had the ideas and produced them: the furniture, the rugs, the appliances, the lamps, the knickknacks. How about that event you attended? It didn't just magically happen ... someone created every detail behind the scenes for you to enjoy yourself. The websites, too, we peruse daily - tedious work from someone.
As we look around life and pass by this, that, and the other ... as we do and discover, hold and read, buy and wear, peruse and attend ... take a second to think,
who makes this stuff?
It is not the faeries or the dolphins - rather, it is hardworking human beings tediously creating for our benefit. So tip your hat in a quick nod of
gratitude
for the delight or purpose it provides.
