Mentor Kickoff Party Recap

March 19th

Stone Brewing, Liberty Station

On Wednesday, March 19th our Mentors and Mentees gathered at Stone Brewing in Liberty Station to kickoff this year's Mentor Program with our y|GEN Council. With over 40 mentees, this program is special due to it's one-on-one pairings unlike any other. Our Mentor Program has and will continue to be integral to the development of our y|GEN members and their careers in the industry. The Mentorship Program's goal is to provide guidance to y|GEN members seeking to grow personally and develop professionally.

Thank you to all of our mentors and mentees participating in this year's program!

With the end of Q1, we are looking forward to more exciting events for the remainder of the year. We have many more activities planned, including project tours, dog beach meet ups, happy hours, and more!

yGEN Dark Happy Hour

at Luce Bar & Kitchen

Despite a torrential downpour on March 6th, our first happy hour of the year was a blast! We had an amazing turnout of 25-30 members who braved the weather to enjoy an evening of brews and pizza at Luce Bar and Kitchen in Bay Park. It was fantastic to see a mix of familiar faces and new members coming together for a great time. These unofficial (dark) events are a perfect way to break the ice and make new connections in a relaxed setting.

Member Testimonial

Hi y|GEN!

I am Alex Baracchini and I work at Ryan Companies as a Development Manager. At Ryan, I help source new development opportunities, design and entitle our projects, and execute our development initiatives. We specialize in developing multi-family apartments, active adult apartments, and industrial buildings.

I have been a part of y|GEN for 4 years now, serving on the board for the past 3. During this time, I have forged valuable relationships with young professionals like myself and established lifelong mentorships with some of the most esteemed professionals in the industry. y|GEN had been a great catalyst for my professional development, while also helping me build lifelong friendships.

San Diego is a big city, but the industry feels like a small village as we constantly rely on our relationships to solve problems, navigate complex processes, and ultimately build more housing. I encourage you to explore what y|GEN has to offer and get involved. Don't hesitate to reach out to me or the BIA for more information on how you can participate!
