Food Collection

Our food collection continues into next week. There is an urgent need for help at Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry, and we invite you all to support this mission. Students may bring their contributions directly to the Main Hall.

Food Drive

Ofrenda Altar

As we celebrate and honor Hispanic Heritage Month, Culture Club is once again creating an Ofrenda in the main lobby to celebrate Dia de los Muertos. In Hispanic Culture, an ofrenda is an altar built to honor lost loved ones. Photos and offerings are displayed to help us remember, celebrate, and honor their lives. We invite families to add to our altar by sharing a photo of someone special who has passed on. Please send your photos with your child's name and homeroom to Mrs. Natalie Bachler.

Pack the House

Friday, October 20 at 5:30pm

We invite you to celebrate Girls' Basketball at our upcoming Pack the House event on Friday, October 20, at 5:30pm. The theme for the night is Pool Party. Wear your favorite pool party attire or St. Barnabas spirit wear. For pool attire, bikini-style tops are not permitted and those wearing swim trunks should also wear t-shirts/swim shirts.

McAuley Tournament Championship

We also invite you to cheer on the Basketball 8A team on Sunday, October 15, at 8pm at Mother McAuley. The team is on a 5-game winning streak and will play Incarnation in the Championship Game of the consolation bracket of the McAuley Tournament - good luck Buckeyes!

Halloween

Halloween Details

Costumes - All students are encouraged to dress up in school-appropriate costumes on Tuesday, October 31. No masks, weapons, or political themes will be permitted. Children with inflatable costumes may only wear them during the parade; during the school day, inflatables must be off and deflated. Be mindful, especially with younger children, that all students must be comfortable and self-sufficient in their costumes throughout the day.

Treats - We have some severe food allergies in our school, and we ask all families to take great care in respecting our no-treat policy. Candy or edible treats are NOT allowed. Small items to share with classmates (stickers, pencils, playdough, etc.) are permitted (and optional). If you plan to distribute treats, please confirm the number of students in your child’s homeroom with the classroom liaison or teacher.

Parade - All Kindergarten - 8th Grade students will be walking in a costume parade. The parade steps off from the school’s main entrance at 1:30pm (weather permitting). Students walk west up 101st Place, turn north on Seeley, and come back down 101st Street hill towards the school. Parents/guardians, grandparents, younger siblings, and friends are encouraged to clap, cheer, and take pictures along the route.

Classroom Parties - Parties are at the discretion of homeroom teachers, with the help of classroom liaisons. Details about individual class parties will be shared in Google Classroom. Please be mindful of our candy and treats policy outlined above. Students who send candy will not be permitted to distribute it.

More to come next week with some exciting Halloween happenings from our Student Council, including the annual Pumpkin decorating contest and support of the Teal Pumpkin Project.
