NEWS and UPCOMING EVENTS

No School Monday

We hope you all enjoy the long Presidents' Day holiday weekend. Our school and administration offices will be closed on Monday, February 17. We look forward to welcoming the students back on Tuesday.

SPR Mass Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, Saturday, February 15, all four parishes that represent our Southside Parish Renewal community (St. Barnabas, St. Cajetan, Christ the King, and St. John Fisher) are invited to come together to celebrate the 4pm mass at St. Cajetan. After mass, stay for fellowship and light refreshments. This will be the only Saturday mass celebrated at the SPR churches; there will not be a 4pm Saturday mass at St. Barnabas Church this weekend. Learn more.

We also invite all students to dress down on Friday, February 28 in their new (or last year's) BHM spirit wear or any black, red, green, or yellow school-appropriate apparel. Contribute to the $3 Charitable Dress Down online or bring $3 cash to school.

Confirmation Rehearsal - Tuesday Night

There is a mandatory Confirmation rehearsal for all 8th grade Confirmation candidates on Tuesday, February 18, at 7pm in the Church. An adult, ideally the sponsor, should accompany student. If the sponsor is not available, then another adult (such as a parent) should be present with the candidate. The rehearsal will last approximately one hour.

Recess-related Handbook Change

There is great value in mid-day outdoor activity and we recently implemented an adjustment to our outdoor recess policy. On days when the "feels like" outdoor temperature is 20 degrees or above students will have outdoor recess. This is an amendment from our previous policy of 32 degrees. Please ensure students have appropriate coats, hats, and gloves each day, as needed. Parent-Student Handbook.

Pat Mac Day!

March 7 is Pat Mac Day at St. Barnabas School! This day honors the life and legacy of former St. Barnabas student Patrick McNamara.

Head Shave or Haircut! - To benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, students (and parents!) may shave their heads or trim a minimum of 8” of their hair. Those hoping to be involved this way must pre-register with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. There is a $75 minimum fundraising requirement, and all waivers and registration are due by Wednesday, March 5.

Temporary Tattoo - Those not up for the shave or trim can still be part of the action. Students may opt for a temporary Pat Mac’s Pack tattoo. All proceeds go directly to support Pat Mac’s Pack Foundation. Students must register online by Wednesday, March 5. $20 individual contribution, or $50 for a family.

Dress Down - An easy, lower-cost way to make an impact - $3 Charitable Dress! Dress down in green or any Irish-inspired apparel on March 7.
