NEWS

Welcome to Baby Stack!

Join us in prayers of love and joy for Mr. Jonathan Stack. Mr. Stack and his wife, Jena, welcomed baby boy Ezra Jonathan Stack on Wednesday! The Stack family is all doing well, and we send our heartfelt congratulations on their exciting, life-changing journey.

As a reminder, Ms. Grace Sadowski will now serve as the interim Principal of school. While on extended parental leave, Mr. Stack will not check his email or voicemail. A list of who to contact is on our website and linked here > Who to Contact.

Pack the House Tonight!

Join us tonight, Friday, February 20, as we celebrate Girls Volleyball with our 8th Grade Pack the House! Games begin at 6pm with 8B (White) vs. Christ the King, 8B (Gray) vs. St. Cajetan at 6:50pm, and 8A vs. St. Catherine at 7:40pm.

The theme for the night is
Gold Rush, and everyone is encouraged to come dressed in fun, festive gold attire!

As a reminder, all student fans should have a designated adult chaperone. We also ask all spectators to remain off the court at all times. For the safety of our athletes, fans should not walk or play on the court during timeouts and between games. Thank you for your attention.

PowerSchool Closing

Trimester 2 ends today, February 20. PowerSchool will be temporarily unavailable to families beginning Monday, February 23, as we prepare for the February 27 report card release. Thank you for your understanding.

5Essentials Parent Survey

Please take a few moments to complete the 5Essentials Parent Survey, administered by the Archdiocese of Chicago in partnership with the University of Chicago. This survey is a valuable resource for our school, and the insights it provides help guide planning, strengthen school culture, and support continued growth. Strong participation truly makes a difference > begin the 5Essentials Survey.

Order SB Apparel

The Buckeye Shop is open through Sunday, February 22 for a new round of orders. Items will be delivered in early March. Order gym uniforms, dress-code-approved sweatshirts, and Buckeye spirit wear, available in sizes for toddlers to adults! The Buckeye Shop.

Eat & Earn at Horse Thief Continues

Our Eat and Earn Week at Horse Thief Hollow continues through the weekend and wraps up on Sunday, February 22. Mention "Buckeyes" when placing your dine-in order, and they'll donate 10% back to the St. Barnabas FSA! Learn more.

Black History Month Continues

Dress Down next Friday - All students are welcome to participate in a $3 Charitable Dress Down to support the Culture Club's fundraiser benefiting the United Negro College Fund. Students may wear their BHM Spirit Wear apparel, HBCU apparel, or any clothing in black, red, green, or yellow. Donate online via credit card payment or bring $3 cash to school by Friday, February 27 (exact change only, please). Contribute online.

BHM Assembly - As we close out Black History Month, our students will gather for an assembly on Friday, February 27, at 1:30pm. Due to capacity limits in our school gym, we can only permit parents/guardians of our featured student dancers and speakers. Guests should enter the building at the gym's main doors and sign in the lobby with a member of our staff.

Pat Mac Day - 2 Weeks from Now!

On Friday, March 6, we will come together in the school gym to raise funds for Pat Mac’s Pack and St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

There are many exciting and inspirational components to the day, and we encourage everyone to get involved in some capacity - volunteer, dress down, head shave, hair cut, face tattoo, hair dye, and an evening adults-only party! These opportunities all require advanced registration, so please don't delay!

Please take some time to read about the day and Patrick's legacy. We are Pat Mac's Pack!

We begin in the School’s Main Hall at 3pm, where Award-winning author, journalist, and poet Judith Valente will share insights from her book, The Italian Soul: How to Savor the Full Joys of Life. We are honored to have Ms. Valente present at St. Barnabas; all are welcome to enjoy this free program.

After the presentation, head to the Church for the 4pm Mass honoring St. Joseph, and then gather in the lunchroom for an evening of shared joy, love, and a pasta dinner! Learn more.

THANK YOU

Valentine's Day - Thank you to the many parents and guardians who helped their children thoughtfully prepare Valentine cards and treats to share with their classmates. We also thank the parents who volunteered their time to help with class parties. It was lovely to witness so many acts of kindness.

Ice Skating Party - Thank you, Jessica Grandchamp, Carly Hurd, and Katie Rao, for coordinating the Presidents' Day Ice Skating party at Morgan Park Sports Center! It was such a treat for families, and we thank you for your time and planning. We also thank our FSA for covering the cost of skate rentals for all!

Ash Wednesday Mass - Thank you to the many parents and extended family members who joined us for Ash Wednesday Mass. Beginning our Lenten journey together in prayer and reflection is incredibly important, and we thank you for joining us.

Chaperones - Thank you to the many parents who took time out of their day to help with field trips this week. The 2nd-grade trip to the Museum of Science and Industry and the 6th-grade trip to the Chicago Wolves game would not be possible without your help!
