I missed running the Long Island Marathon due to an injury. I'm currently being treated by
Dr. Sean J. Pastuch . He does have me running 5 miles a day,  7 yesterday and I will be running the 10 mile run in Long Beach, this weekend. My pain is subsiding each day. Sometimes I feel like a race horse and just want to sprint to the finish but that's what caused my problem originally when I tried to finish strong with Jodi by my side at our morning runs. Dr. Pastuch will be giving providing free pre and post race stretching at the upcoming 5k AIDS Cancer Run Walk. No need to read further if you read the May 17th news release. Please don't forget to sign up by May 25th if you would like to have your name on the back of the Event t-shirt.

THE JEWISH STAR wrote a nice 2 page article about the Richard M. Brodsky Foundation's work, 'Five Towns marathoner runs for his life.' I guess I have to say that since I wrote the article and it was printed without any edits. If you cannot read the article below, click here.
- Please consider joining Jodi and me as we will be walking in the AIDS Walk with NIKE 3644, register here
- Register by May 25, 1013 and you will have your name placed on the back of the Event t-shirt for the 6th annual 5K AIDS Cancer Run Walk, click here to register. Please invite your friends to the Event via FACEBOOK. Volunteers and sponsors are also needed.
- More photos from Boston taken by Maryanne, one of my Foundation's volunteers.
- Jodi continues to dominate women's running as she ran the Long Island Marathon 20 days after running Boston. Jodi ran her 3nd fastest marathon, just 34 seconds slower than Boston: 04:03:39. The following Saturday, Jodi came in 2nd place for her age group at the 5K Elizabeth T. McNamee Run.
- Remember to wear sunscreen when your are outside as this Sunday will be the annual 5K run in memory of Colette Marie Coyne who died of melanoma.          .

  • For more information about the 5K AIDS Cancer Run Walk please visit the 5K website, READ MORE. We are easy to find if you do a google search for 5K AIDS, we generally come up 1 through 5 on google's search engine. You can also register for FREE by raising $50. You will still need to fill out a race application on race day. If you are affiliated with a radio station, local sports team, Broadway theatre or movie theatre, restaurant, running shoe store, retail store, pizzeria, toy store, florits, beauty salon, etc. and can contribute a gift certificate for the Event, it would be very much appreciated. Gift certificates can be mailed directly to  Richard M. Brodsky Foundation, 1247 Mara Court, Atlantic Beach, NY 11509
  • To all sponsors who have not received thank you notes and Certificates of Appreciation from the World AIDS Marathon, I apologize for the delay as my wife and I have been overwhelmed with restoring our home due to Hurricane Sandy. We just received the t-shirts a few days ago and everyone who is supposed to receive a t-shirt and thank you letter will have them within a week and probably less time.
  • To all walkers in the 5K AIDS Cancer Run Walk in North Woodmere Park, I have been advised by the Nassau County Police Department that the route they walk will be the same except they will turn left whey exit the park while the runners will turn right. The walkers will follow the same course as the runners except their course will be .5 miles shorter. We can discuss walking the extra .5 mile distance in the park. The reason for the shortened course is due to the fact that the streets can only be closed for a minimum amount of time.
  • We are still seeking a sponsor for donating 500 t-shirts. The cost will range from $2,500 - $3,500 depending on whether we purchase a dryfit or cotton t-shirt. Your name will be noted on the t-shirts that you donated the t-shirts.

Certificate below designed by Keely Payne. Thanks Ronald McDonald for you continuous support.

Thank you to my loving wife Jodi, all participants, sponsors and volunteers, and a special thanks to Dr. Walter Rho of Orlin & Cohen. Dr. Rho saved my arm as I took a bad fall and he restored my arm to just about perfect. Bridge Rehab of Long Beach did a great job on the therapy that was prescribed by Dr. Rho. Dr. Edward Fryman also helped me out with my tendonitis. More recently Dr. Sean J. Pastuch is helping with some joint problems.

We are always looking for volunteers so if you've managed to read this entire newsletter, we could really use your help. Please contact me, Richard, at:
