Worship With Us!
Norcross First is a loving community of people who've found God's life through Jesus Christ and we'd be honored to share that same life and love with you! This church is alive with God's love and presence, opportunities to serve Him and plans to reach this entire community with the Good News of God's unending love.

It's our prayer you'll find a place of service and make new friends, but most importantly, that you'll grow in your spiritual commitment to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As you are in our midst, we hope you feel loved and accepted by your church family. The pastors and staff are here to serve as pastor and friend. Please don't hesitate to call.

  1. Remove any items/objects that would be visible from your car and hide them in your trunk
  2. Lock your car

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

THIS Sunday | 11AM

[Guardrails] Avoiding Regrets In Your Life

If you have a student 6th - 12th Grade, you'll want to join us downstairs in The Outlet for the small group Video Bible study, Guardrails. Students and parents are together in this study.

Stop flirting with disaster and establish personal guardrails around friendships, your finances, your faith. Light snacks served so head downstairs right after the 9:30AM Modern Worship Gathering.

LAUNCH 2014 - Connect Student Ministry and The Dream House

LAUNCH is in year three and has grown to be a major mission and service project for Mid Hi, Sr Hi, college aged students and their adult leaders. It's become an annual summer opportunity where students have the chance to impact their community for the Kingdom of God. Over four days, students and adults spent time serving in our community in the name of Jesus.

This year we returned to The Dream House; a respite home for medically fragile children located in Lilburn. Students and adults took on projects consisting of yard work, painting, deck repair, erosion control and various other opportunities to help make The Dream House property an inviting and welcoming place. One of the highlights was seeing students load, move and spread six dump truck loads of mulch.

This was a very worthy project as we came together to serve people we may never even meet. Imagine the constant concern for a parent who cares for a child 24/7; and the anxiety of leaving that child with other people for even a brief period. The work we did helped to communicate that The Dream House is a well thought out, caring, professional ministry; one that parents can feel comfortable about.

Students also stained a home in the Stone Mountain area for an underemployed single mom.

We had a great time serving together and look forward to more opportunities to serve our community in the name of Jesus. Click here for more pictures.

Some Things I've Learned

Living in a different country gives you a pretty awesome perspective on life. Most of which, I can't even begin to put into words but I will try my best!
  1. God is at work all over the world. America isn't the only place where christians live and people here love Jesus...a lot.
  2. People are awesome. Relationships are the building blocks of life and here in Nica, they're way more important than in the states. Whether it be a stranger on a public bus or a stranger on the street people here are, in my opinion, are more friendly than in the US. Everyone talks to everyone, buses and taxis aren't quiet like they are back home. Everyone talks to everyone and everyone helps everyone. I have a trust for everyone I meet here even if it is just some guy I'm sitting next to on a bus.
  3. Time really isn't as important here. People would trade a conversation, meal, or hanging out over being on time to everything. "Nica time" is a real thing and it's awesome. No one is too busy to help or too busy to be with family. Schedules are suggested and nothing goes as planned and yet there is ALWAYS enough time in the day to get everything done.

Praises and Prayer Requests from Travis & Lorna Curry

PRAISES:

  • We are excited to have the Christianbury family here to serve for 2 weeks. They arrived safely from Maryland.
  • Saturday there were 78 baptized in the river. It was awesome with singing praises to God. The weather was cold and windy and the water was cold but the people were singing and thankful! The one lady in the picture could not stand but she was assisted into the water to be baptized!
  • We thank God for our home church, Norcross FUMC and all they do for us prayerfully and financially!!!  We love you guys!
  • We thank God for the Stateside board, The Mission Society, our prayer team and all of you who have answered God's call to be a part of this ministry at Children of Zion!

Summerour Success Summer Program
Monday - Thursday, July 7 - 17
Summerour Middle School designed this program for rising
6th - 8th Grade students to help prepare them for a successful upcoming year at the school. Through this program the teachers have prepared a program to preview the materials for the upcoming year, while introducing and implementing high-order thinking strategies to help students succeed in their Fall semesters and testing. Writing / literacy is emphasized. This year the program will incorporate a World Cup theme, designed to engage and motivate students throughout the program.

How YOU Can Help?
  • Help Serve Breakfast: We'll provide and serve breakfast the week of July 14.
  • Be a Mentor: The teachers would like to have one-on-one mentors for their students during the teaching instruction. They will keep the classroom size to no more than 20 students. The teachers' will provide worksheets and activities to help the students engage in the curriculum. Mentors can commit to one day a week or more depending on their schedule.
  • Help with the July 5 World Cup Kick-Off: Help coordinate our Popcorn, Snow Cone and Cotton Candy machines at this event.
  • Volunteer for the July 17 Celebration: Plans are being made to have a celebration at the end of the event.
  • PRAY: Please be in prayer as to how God can use you in the Success Summer Program to help change the life of a student.
To volunteer, please contact:

Carey Thompson: [email protected]
Shelley Carr: [email protected]
Julie Eskridge: [email protected]
Pastor Terri Hoye: [email protected]

The Atlanta Vineyard

Please pray for their finances: the church is transitioning into a much younger congregation, but in many cases that means a lot less income from giving. Pray also for their missions focus as a church: they support church plants in Russia and Tajikistan and hope to send a team from the church this year.

New GriefShare Sessions
Sundays, August 17 - November 9 {13 weeks}
5 - 7PM Weekly | COST: $17/workbook

Who is GriefShare for? It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things never faced before.

Your GriefShare group will meet weekly on Sunday nights to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.
  • Video Seminar with Experts: Each week your group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects.
  • Support Group Discussion with Focus: Your group will spend time discussing the video and what's going on in your lives.
  • Workbook-Based Personal Study and Reflection: During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.
